Based on Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984, all the users of radioactive materials, X-ray machines and other ionizing radiation sources must have one Radiation Protection Officer, RPO.

In view of this, Bangi Ray Services Sdn. Bhd. BRSSB is offering the Radiation protection course for Officers (RPO course). It is a development framework intended to provide the essential knowledge base for those wishing to become competent as Radiation Protection Officer and for those professionals wishing to develop skills in specified areas of radiation protection.

TENORM is an acronym for Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material.

Rocks and soil contain natural radioactivity, which also dissolves into ground water. The occurrence of these ‘naturally occurring radioactive materials’ (NORM) varies throughout the world, and may be more or less likely given the types of rocks and minerals in a particular area. NORM contributes a part of the natural ‘background’ exposure from radiation.

We offer Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (TENORM) Monitoring Services.  It involves the monitoring and surveillance of:-

• External radiation level
• Surface contamination level
• Airborne radionuclideRadon / Thoron progeny levels
• Radioactivity analysis of mineral by-products, sludge, scale, soil, liquids and flora/fauna.

Any activity that produces or uses radioactive materials generates radioactive waste. Mining, nuclear power generation, and various processes in industry, defense, medicine, and scientific research produce by products that include radioactive waste. Radioactive waste can be in gas, liquid or solid form, and its level of radioactivity can vary. The waste can remain radioactive for a few hours or several months or even hundreds of thousands of years.

In BRSSB, we are provide a service to help other company preparing documents needed by regulatory such as:

• Radiation Protection Program (RPP)
• License Application (Renew or Change)

The main objective of Radiological Impact Assessment (RIA) is to assess potential radiological impact caused by operation of the plant to the workers and the general public living in the surrounding areas of the plant and to confirm that such operation will not cause undue radiological risk beyond what is allowed by the regulatory authority, the AELB

BRSSB provides decontamination services for an area, facility, or equipments that have been contaminated with radioactive materials. Once the nature of the radiation hazard (i.e. its chemical and physical form and activity of the contaminants) has been identified, a safe working procedure for removal of the contaminants is designed and carried out.

Bangi Ray Services Sdn. Bhd. is also involved in supplying radiation safety equipments to our customers such as;

The services provided are as follows:

• The provision of a temporary Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) to companies (for licensing purposes).
• The preparation of all compulsory documents required during licensing application.
• The provision of film badges, TLD badges, survey meter calibration services, sealed source disposals and other related services (liaison with the Nuclear Malaysia Agency).
• The provision of record keeping services for companies (in accordance to the AELB licensing requirements).
• The provision of document such as Radiation Protection Program, Safe Working Procedure, Emergency Preparedness Plan and etc. (in accordance to the AELB guidelines and requirements).

Bangi Ray Services Sdn Bhd is offering the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) course. It is a development framework intended to provide the essential knowledge base for those wishing to become competent as Radiation Protection Officer and for those professionals wishing to develop skills in specified area of radiation protection.

The course is designed to provide periodic reviews and assessments of the RPO knowledge and understanding of radiation safety protection principles, regulations, company’s procedures and policies, with respect to radiation safety practices and the familiarization of the new regulations.

In accordance with the Atomic Energy Licensing Act, 1984 (Act 304), it is mandatory to perform leak testing on any radioactive sealed sources annually.

Bangi Ray Services Sdn. Bhd. provides the services by taking leak test samples at site and performing samples counting at our own approved laboratory.
